At Kurintar, board Nepal’s first cable car for a 10-minute ride up to Manakamana Temple (1,302 m). The 2.8-kilometer cable car ride offers stunning aerial views of the Trishuli River valley and surrounding hills. Manakamana Temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhagwati, known as the “wish-fulfilling goddess.” Continue drive to Kathmandu arriving by evening. Check into your hotel in Thamel, the city’s tourist hub.

Start at Swayambhunath Stupa, also called the “Monkey Temple” — climb 365 stone steps to reach the stupa, which sits 77 meters above the valley. From the top, enjoy panoramic views of Kathmandu and nearby mountains. Next, visit Pashupatinath Temple, Nepal’s most sacred Hindu site, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Located on the banks of the Bagmati River, it’s the main cremation site for Hindus in Nepal. 150 kilometer drive (5–6 hours) to Chitwan National Park through the scenic middle hills and the Trishuli River valley. Along the way, pass traditional Newari towns, terraced farms, and the flat plains of southern Nepal. Afternoon canoe ride on the Rapti River, spotting crocodiles, kingfishers, herons, and storks.
