The Chepang are one of Nepal’s least-known indigenous communities. Their forest-dependent lifestyle, unique cuisine, and oral traditions offer an experience found nowhere else in Nepal.

Basic Homestay
Chepang homes are simple — basic bedding, no running water in some cases, open-fire cooking. This is raw, authentic village life. Bring a headlamp and open mind.

Common Questions
Moderate. It’s a 2–2.5 hour uphill hike in the dark, starting at 3:30 AM. The trail is not technical but requires moderate fitness and good footwear. A headlamp is essential. Our guide leads the way.
Very basic. Traditional house with simple bedding, no attached bathroom, open-fire kitchen. Bring a sleeping bag liner, headlamp, and wet wipes. The cultural experience more than compensates for the simplicity.
Tiger sightings are rare but possible (about 10–15% chance per safari). Rhino sightings are almost guaranteed. Chitwan has over 100 Royal Bengal Tigers, but they’re elusive in the dense jungle.
Yes. Chepang cuisine is largely vegetarian (foraged greens, tubers, rice). Chitwan resorts offer vegetarian menus. Inform us at booking for any specific dietary needs.
Yes, popular extensions include Pokhara (2 days), Lumbini (1–2 days), or continuing to the Ghandruk/Sikles homestay. Contact us for a customized itinerary.
